Es wird oft als Natriumsalz, Natriumcarboxymethylcellulose, verwendet. Fr\u00fcher wurde es unter dem Namen Tylose vermarktet, einer eingetragenen Marke von SE Tylose.<\/p>\n<p>CMC wird in Lebensmitteln unter der E-Nummer E466 oder E469 (wenn es enzymatisch hydrolysiert wird) als Viskosit\u00e4tsmodifikator oder Verdickungsmittel sowie zur Stabilisierung von Emulsionen in verschiedenen Produkten, einschlie\u00dflich Eiscreme, verwendet. Es ist auch Bestandteil vieler Non-Food-Produkte wie Zahnpasta, Abf\u00fchrmittel, Di\u00e4tpillen, Farben auf Wasserbasis, Reinigungsmittel, Textilschlichte, wiederverwendbare W\u00e4rmepackungen und verschiedene Papierprodukte. Es wird haupts\u00e4chlich verwendet, weil es eine hohe Viskosit\u00e4t aufweist, ungiftig ist und im Allgemeinen als hypoallergen gilt, da die Hauptfaserfaser entweder Zellstoff aus Weichholz oder Baumwollfaser ist. CMC wird h\u00e4ufig in glutenfreien und fettreduzierten Lebensmitteln verwendet. In Waschmitteln wird es als Schmutzsuspensionspolymer verwendet, das sich auf Baumwolle und anderen Zellulosestoffen ablagert und so eine negativ geladene Barriere gegen Schmutz in der Waschl\u00f6sung bildet. In der Augenheilkunde wird CMC als Gleitmittel in k\u00fcnstlichen Tr\u00e4nen zur Behandlung trockener Augen eingesetzt. Zur Behandlung des schweren Syndroms des trockenen Auges oder der Meibom-Dr\u00fcsen-Dysfunktion (MGD) kann eine umfassende Behandlung erforderlich sein.<\/p>\n<p>CMC wird auch als Verdickungsmittel verwendet, beispielsweise in der \u00d6lbohrindustrie als Bestandteil von Bohrschlamm, wo es als Viskosit\u00e4tsmodifikator und Wasserr\u00fcckhaltemittel wirkt. Natrium-CMC (Na-CMC) wird beispielsweise als Negativkontrollmittel f\u00fcr Alopezie bei Kaninchen verwendet.<\/p>\n<p>Gestrickte Stoffe aus Zellulose (z. B.
